We’re cranking out the hits lately. First, the MK5/6 2.0T FSI/TSI fabricated aluminum intake manifold drew tons of attention from big turbo builds. Now, we’re helping you reach those goals to reduce weight and increase efficiency. The new in-house designed MK5, MK6, and MK7 GTI/Golf R OEM Intercooler Delete Brackets are the best way to get the most out of your bigger aftermarket intercooler. Here’s why you definitely need them.

It sounds a bit counterintuitive to delete your OEM intercooler, right? Well, if you’ve upgraded to an aftermarket one, like our MQB Cast Aluminum Intercooler or the MK6 upgraded intercooler we produce, then you’ve probably found that your old OEM intercooler had to stay in place.
The OEM intercooler acts as a mounting surface for the A/C condenser and radiator. So, without our new intercooler delete brackets, that old intercooler has to stay. While that seems like a logical option, it most certainly isn’t. With the OEM intercooler there, it’s intercepting airflow that should be directed to your new, bigger, better performing intercooler. Unfortunately, that means you aren’t receiving the full benefits that fancy new intercooler should provide.

On a less important, but still beneficial note, you’re also ditching about 6 pounds of weight by deleting your old intercooler with the delete brackets. It isn’t much, but it adds up. You might not feel that difference, but if you’re trying to reduce as much weight as possible, you can’t discount the 6lbs from that OEM intercooler.
There isn’t a whole lot more to say about these bracket kits. They were designed, engineered, and tested right here in-house at ECS, they’re ready to help you delete your OEM intercooler, and they aren’t all that expensive. If you have an upgraded intercooler or are in the market for one, these OEM intercooler delete bracket kits are a must.
